Technical information about this website’s accessibility

Hodthorpe & Belph Parish Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 AA standard due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

The content listed below is not fully accessible for the following reasons:

Older PDF and Word documents

Some PDF and Word documents published before 23 September 2018 may not be fully accessible to screen reader software and may not be structured correctly.

This may fail WCAG 2.2 success criteria including:

  • 1.1.1 Non-text Content
  • 2.4.5 Multiple Ways
  • 2.4.8 Location
  • 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix documents published before 23 September 2018 unless they are essential to providing our services.

Scanned documents

Some documents, such as signed audit documents and historical records, are uploaded as scanned PDFs and may not be fully accessible because text cannot always be accurately recognised by OCR software.

Third-party content and software

Some third-party applications used on this website may not fully meet accessibility standards.

Google Maps

Embedded Google Maps may not be fully accessible to screen reader users and may fail WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.1.1 (Non-text Content).

To reduce the impact of this issue, we provide written address information alongside maps where possible.

Google reCAPTCHA

Google reCAPTCHA used on contact forms may not fully meet WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.4.6 (Headings and Labels).

If you are unable to use online forms, please contact the Parish Clerk directly by email at clerk@hodthorpeandbelph-pc.gov.uk and your enquiry will be dealt with manually.

Disproportionate burden

At this time, Hodthorpe & Belph Parish Council has not claimed any disproportionate burden exemptions.

Content not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

PDFs and other documents published before 23 September 2018 are exempt from the accessibility regulations unless they are essential for accessing our services.

What we are doing to improve accessibility

We are committed to improving accessibility and usability across the website. We will:

  • carry out regular accessibility reviews and testing
  • aim to ensure new content meets WCAG 2.2 AA standards
  • review third-party tools and content where possible
  • provide alternative formats on request
